Plumy ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is an independently developed mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the App.
The short version: Plumy has no servers and no accounts. Everything you enter stays on your phone. We cannot see it, because it is never sent to us. The one thing that leaves your device is a subscription purchase, and that goes to Apple or Google rather than to us — section 3 explains it.
We collect nothing. Plumy does not have a backend, does not require a Plumy account, and never sends what you enter to us. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifier, and no third-party SDK that profiles you.
The app makes one kind of network request, and only one: it talks to the Apple App Store or Google Play to look up subscription prices and to check whether your subscription is still active. That conversation is between your device and the store. Nothing about your pregnancy, your health entries, your baby or anything else you have typed into Plumy takes part in it, and we are not on the other end of it.
Plumy stores what you enter locally on your device, in the app's private storage, so it is there when you come back. This includes:
Some of this is health-related information about you and your pregnancy. We treat it as sensitive. It is held only on your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else.
We never see this data, so we cannot access, sell, share, rent or disclose it, and we cannot recover it for you if it is lost.
Plumy Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly. Everything about paying for it is handled by the store you installed the app from.
We never see your payment details. Your card number, billing address and any other payment information go to Apple or Google and never reach us. The store does not tell us your name or your email address either. We are not a payment processor and we hold no financial information about you at all.
Your subscription belongs to your Apple Account or Google account, not to a Plumy account — there is no such thing. That is what makes Restore purchases work: the store recognizes you on a new phone, without us having stored anything about you.
What the app learns back from the store is small and deliberate: whether a subscription is active, which plan it is, and the time of the check. That is all. It is kept on your device, as described in section 2, and is used for one purpose — deciding which features to unlock.
The app asks the store about this when it starts, when you bring it back to the foreground, when you open the Premium screen, and when you buy or restore. If the store cannot be reached — you are offline, or it is having a bad day — Plumy keeps whatever it last knew rather than locking you out of something you have paid for.
What Apple and Google do with a transaction is governed by their own privacy policies, not ours: Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
You can view, change or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account subscription settings or your Google Play subscription settings. We cannot do it for you, because we have no access to it.
Weekly updates, article nudges, baby-chat reminders, appointment reminders and medication reminders are local notifications, scheduled by the app on your device. They are not push notifications, they do not travel through a server, and no third party is told what they say or when they fire.
You choose during onboarding whether to receive them, and can change or switch them off at any time in Settings → Notifications & reminders, or in your device's own notification settings.
Plumy can generate images and text for you to share: the weekly size card, the gender-reveal card, the birth announcement, a doctor summary, and the "Send an update" bulletin.
These are created on your device and handed to your operating system's share sheet. You choose what to do with them and who receives them. We are not involved and receive no copy. Once you have shared something with another app or person, this policy no longer governs it — the receiving app's own terms and privacy policy apply.
The doctor summary may be produced as a PDF. It is generated on your device and saved to a temporary file so you can share or print it.
The app links to external health resources (such as the NHS, ACOG, the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Tommy's, the Office on Women's Health and Mind), to this policy and our Terms, to the App Store review page, to your store's subscription-management page, and to your email app when you report a problem. Opening any of these hands you over to that website or app, which has its own privacy practices. We do not control them and are not responsible for them.
If you email us at the support address, we will of course have whatever you put in your email. We use it only to answer you.
The app may ask your operating system to show its standard "rate this app" prompt. That prompt is presented by Apple or Google, not by us. We do not learn your rating or whether you left one.
Plumy is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — including children — because we do not collect information at all.
Because your data never leaves your device, you are in direct control of it:
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, and neither does deleting the app. Your subscription is held by Apple or Google, so it keeps renewing until you cancel it there — we have no way to cancel it for you. If you want both gone, cancel the subscription first, then delete your account. If you erase your data but keep the subscription, reinstalling Plumy and tapping Restore purchases brings Premium back without paying again.
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK/EU GDPR or the CCPA) you may have rights to access, correct, port, or erase personal data a company holds about you, and to object to its processing. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to hand over or delete on our side. You exercise these rights directly, on your device, using the controls above. Your store keeps its own record of what you have bought; those rights you exercise with Apple or Google.
If you have enabled iCloud, Google, or a computer backup of your phone, your device's backup may include Plumy's local data, in line with how your operating system backs up apps. That backup is governed by Apple's or Google's privacy policy, not ours.
Plumy's data sits in your app's private storage, protected by your device's own security — your passcode, biometrics and disk encryption. Keeping your device locked and updated is the most effective protection. No method of storage is perfectly secure, and someone with access to an unlocked device can open the app.
Plumy is for general education and for enjoying your pregnancy. It is not a medical device, not a medical record, and not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Always follow the guidance of your midwife or doctor, and call your local emergency number in an emergency.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and publish the new version. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
